The Students' Technical Council is a student body which is responsible for all the cultural events in the Institute round the year. It consists of 20 institute and departmental technical groups. It consists of software related groups like SDSLabs, MDG (Mobile Development Group), and hardware groups like IITR Motorsports, MaRS (Models and Robotics Section) and some department-specific groups like iGem. Over the past few years, members of STC have brought multiple laurels for IITR solidifying the institute as one of the top technical institutions in India.
