National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps plays a significant part in moulding a person's character. It fosters the spirit of teamwork and man-management and leads to the development of a more pleasing overall personality.
Thus NCC strives to achieve the following objectives:

  • To channelize the energy and dynamism of young men towards activities beneficial to them and to the society.
  • Constructive use of leisure time, wholesome recreation, wide cultural sympathies, abiding social consciousness and an alert mind.
  • Recognizing the importance of the NCC, the Institute offers the students an opportunity to be part of the NCC. The Institute cadets are part of the 3UACTR (3 Uttaranchal Composite Technical Regiment) of the NCC and are divided into three companies viz. The Engineers, The Signals and The EME.

Special Parade on 76th Independence Day 2022

Previously, a special parade was thought to be organized on the 73rd Republic Day of India but it could not be materialized due to COVID omicron wave. So, the special parade was organized on the 76th Independence Day i.e. 15th August, 2022, which witnessed the participation of 60 cadets rather than the usual parade done by around 30 cadets every year. The parade was led by parade commander, Senior Under Officer, Karan Saharan.

This year, the Independence Day was celebrated in a grand manner in the Lal Bahadur Shastri Ground instead of the grounds of the Thomason Building where it is conducted every year.

Alumni Testimonials

The “Alumni testimonials” was proposed to be organized by the NCC IITR in June- July 2021 but could not come into play then, due to COVID omicron wave. Planned during the last week of November 2022.

Seminar/ webinar on history of BEG and IIT Roorkee

The Seminar/ Webinar on the history of Bengal Engineer Group and IIT Roorkee was previously proposed to be held before august 2021 but was not materialized due to COVID omicron wave again.

Although the initiative has already been kicked off on the occasion of Independence Day, 2022, it is now intended to be completed by the 3rd week of October, 2022. Starting the initiative, 60 students visited the galleries and memorial of BEG and IITR on 14th August 2022 to commemorate BEG’s and IITR’s contribution in the past and to collect materials for the upcoming seminar.
