Tech Sarthi: One Stop Solution for your Technology Needs

Celebrating 175 years of imparting technical education and research for the development of society IIT Roorkee announced a scheme "Tech Sarthi" to propose technical solutions for any issues that the industries are facing. The scheme was launched to assist industrial units around the Roorkee region in developing technologies and products that can meet international standards. Further, the scheme aligns our academic and research excellence with industrial requirements and will facilitate identifying opportunities for new products, services, and markets, including assessing technology portfolio and intellectual property rights and focusing on moving “local to global”.

Hon’ble CM of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the ambitious scheme on 8th Apr 2022 and Glimpses of other ceremonies

Developments in Scheme:

  • Tech Sarthi scheme focuses on small/medium industrial units for small-business innovation and works with large industries for their areas of improvement. In line with this, major industry associations in Uttarakhand like CII Uttarakhand, Startup Uttarakhand, NASSCOM Uttarakhand, Directorate of Industries Uttarakhand, SIDCUL Manufacturers Association, and Bhagwanpur Industrial Association were contacted to come forward and support the scheme.
  • 560 companies were contacted and industrial visits were made to 21 companies so far in which various actionable issues were identified ranging from Product & process development, and technical up-gradation to the rejuvenation of the Kalyani River.
  • Faculty & Students are working on the identified actionable issues in order to provide solutions to the problems of MSME.
  • Students from UG, PG & P.hd are working on live industrial problems in the areas of their interest as interns, workman assistantship funded partly from industry & Techsarthi Fund. UG students are provided with an opportunity to choose these problems as BTP and work on them.

Outreach Event at Bhagwanpur Industrial Area

An outreach event was organized at Pulastya Resort in Bhagwanpur Industrial Area on July 2, 2022 with the support of the Bhagwanpur Industries Association and HDFC bank to reach out to the maximum number of MSME for providing them with technology-based solutions.

Near Term Plans:

Plans are there to organize additional workshops at SIIDCUL Haridwar, Dehradun & Rudrapur Industrial area to reach Micro enterprises and rural industries at a mass level for promoting the initiative, spreading knowledge, and creating awareness on business modernization, ease of technology adoption, and its benefits.

HDFC Bank has approached Tech Sarthi to enter into an MoU for partnering in the scheme and address the financial barriers faced by MSME in their growth and expansion.



The target is to focus on the industries that have a propensity to respond positively to tech adoption and spark a discussion among the industrial cluster regarding the scheme. It is planned to capture all inputs from stakeholders, consolidate and map various scheme/value propositions for MSMEs to adopt technology, know-how on adoption, etc. Regular feedback and outputs from MSMEs adopting various technologies will be monitored for further development of the scheme.
