The momentous mark of 175th year of IIT Roorkee has been celebrated with two cultural activities- The Annual Exhibition of Fine Arts named “Darpan” and a short film- “Anant” by the Choreography and Cinematic sections of Cultural Council, IITR.
Darpan - Leading the future
The Annual Exhibition of Fine Arts named Darpan, based on the theme of 175 years of IIT Roorkee was organized during 15-17 April 2022 at the Student Activity Centre (SAC).
The Fine Arts Section created a 30 ft long Painting which was displayed in a dark interactive room to provide walk thorough of the heritage of IIT Roorkee. Darpan showcased 70+ Artworks with different Art Mediums and various artforms. A footfall of about 2000+ was seen in the exhibition. The exhibition was a result of 3 months of sheer hard work and dedication by the members of the Fine Arts Section and received a lot of praise from the Campus Community.
Anant - 175 years of IIT Roorkee
Anant is a short film depicting this immense history of IIT Roorkee through different expressive performing art forms of dancing, acting and narration. The movie has been made by students of Choreography Section and CineSec of Cultural council.
As part of the celebrations of 175 years, Cultural Council proposed to prepare and present a Shadow Dance Act. While doing so, the story of 175 years of IIT Roorkee was depicted through the interaction of two generations, both pass-outs from IIT Roorkee- just half a century apart. It is a beautiful journey through the campus. The movie presents some outstanding drone captures of the world-class facilities for students and the campus community. It is overwhelming to see, IIT Roorkee standing tall and growing further only.
The movie has garnered more than 22K views on YouTube since its release on August 23rd, 2022.
