‘One-day Trips’ for School-going Students to celebrate its 175th Year of Excellence
In a series of events to mark its 175th year of excellence, IIT Roorkee had started an initiative to conduct ‘one-day trips’ to the institute for school-going students from the Roorkee- Haridwar region to give the students a glimpse of the IIT Roorkee legacy, culture, technical competency, and social values.
7 successful ‘one-day trips’ to IIT Roorkee for various schools of the Roorkee-Haridwar region have been conducted. 13 more are being organized.
In one trip, 40 meritorious school students from the Roorkee-Haridwar region, selected by questionnaire and other rounds, are invited to the IIT Roorkee campus. During the 8-hour tour, the students are guided by the IIT Roorkee students forming Ingenious Inside Ed-Tours Team and IIT Roorkee staff and professionals.
A usual day of one-day to IITR
Begins with orientation and snacks at 9:00 am at the convocation hall.
Students are then taken on a tour of the institute which includes a trip to various spots like the Institute Computer Center, Institute Instrumentation Center, Tinkering Lab, Earth science museum, and Bioscience department.
After lunch, students attend a Career Guidance Talk and a Cultural session. Later, they are shown the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library (MGCL), Archive’s Gallery and James Thomason Building.
They further interact with the honorable Director, Deputy Director, and chairperson of the 175 years committee at the Senate Hall. At the end of the tour, the students are felicitated with rewards and souvenirs.
Such trips showcasing the magnificence of IIT Roorkee, which is a unique amalgamation of cultural heritage and future possibilities, will motivate and inspire the students towards a brighter future.
