Power System Laboratory (PSL) covers an extensive area of research in Electrical Engineering. The research carried out in PSL lab is mainly related to Smart Grid implemented through the facilities such as RTDS (Real-Time Digital Simulator), Wind Energy Simulator, Solar PV Simulators, Power Amplifiers etc. available in the laboratory, which can mimic the behaviour of the actual system. The motivation of the PSL is to develop advanced protection algorithms and modern control schemes for the Low and High voltage system associated with the transmission and distribution side of the system. The modern labs are well-equipped with real-time simulators and facilitate prototype models of instruments with a HIL (hardware in the loop) testing facility. It also encourages power system reliability, security, and power quality for both AC and DC power networks. It also incorporates power converters, switching devices, electronics relays, single-board controllers, and various active and passive devices for power conditioning.
