Anushruti Academy for the Deaf (AAD) is a pioneering social initiative of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), established in 1989 with a commitment to providing quality education and holistic development opportunities to children with hearing and speech impairments. Located within the IIT Roorkee campus, AAD has grown over the decades into a nurturing and inclusive learning community that strives to enable every child to learn, communicate, express, and realise their potential.
At AAD, education goes beyond the classroom. Our approach recognises the individuality of every learner and focuses on developing academic abilities alongside communication, life skills, confidence, creativity, social awareness, and independence. Through specialised education, personalised attention, co-curricular activities, and a supportive environment, we endeavour to equip our students with the skills and confidence they need to participate meaningfully in society.
What makes AAD distinctive is the vibrant ecosystem that surrounds it. A dedicated team of teachers, special educators, and staff works closely with IIT Roorkee faculty, students, alumni, volunteers, well-wishers, and the Management Committee.
