Miyawaki Forest

In September 2021, IIT Roorkee transformed part of its campus into a vibrant mini forest by applying the Miyawaki method—Akira Miyawaki’s rapid, high density strategy that layers a rich mix of indigenous species to jump start a self sustaining woodland in just a few years.

 

STP (Sewage Treatment Plant)

IIT Roorkee has a Sewage treatment plant of capacity 3.2 MLD and 0.5 MLD capacities STP at Roorkee and Saharanpur campuses (respectively) of IIT Roorkee. At present STP is running its full capacity. The STPs are based on the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process.

The treated waste water is being used for watering the JTS Building lawn.
