Various departments of the Institute also regularly undertake testing work utilizing the elaborate laboratory facilities and the expertise of faculty and technicians. To name a few:

1. Testing of samples of paper, water, building materials and chemicals.

2. Routine type and development tests on industrial products such as electrical/electronic meters, switches, transducers, cables, circuit breakers, etc.

3. Calibration of meters, instruments and transducers.

4. Environmental testing such as vibration, shock, temperature cycle, water and dust penetration.

5. Residual life assessment of buildings, dams, bridges and power-plant structures and equipment.

6. Performance testing of small hydro-electric power plants.
