Our Mission

Climate and other environmental changes need the attention of society. The necessity of the hour is to concentrate on water resources, both above and below ground. Our water resources are rapidly depleting due to our large population and rising urbanization, and the quality of the existing supplies is deteriorating. The world needs scientific leadership to understand the anthropogenic and climate change impacts on surface and ground water quantity and quality, as well as viable remedies and a sustainable way ahead.

The SMART-Water Research Group is dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to global water resources problems. Our mission is to advance the field of groundwater and contaminant hydrology, water quality, and remediation system design through cutting-edge research, collaborative partnerships, and community engagement. We aim to promote sustainable management practices that balance water use and conservation, while protecting and preserving our vital water resources for future generations.

Our Vision

Our vision is to become a leading research group in the field of sustainable water resources management, providing innovative solutions to address the world's most pressing water challenges. We strive to integrate experimental, numerical, and data-based modeling in our research to generate practical solutions that are applicable to real-world problems.

We aim to provide society with a safe and sustainable water supply. To help with this, we endeavor to:

Understand the influence of environmental and human changes on the quantity and quality of surface and groundwater.
Develop strategies to help society with climate-resilient solutions for a safe and reliable water supply.
Engage in frequent dialogue with the public and stakeholders/policymakers to put such initiatives into action.

Broadly our vision is to:

Promote the hygienic and sustainable management of water resources for the benefit of all.
