About Indira Gandhi

Indira Gandhi was an Indian politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
She was born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, British India (now Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India) and was the daughter of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Indira Gandhi was a member of the Indian National Congress party and played a crucial role in India's politics during her time in office. She implemented policies aimed at reducing poverty, improving literacy rates, and promoting economic development. Her government nationalized major industries, banks, and insurance companies, and introduced reforms in agriculture, education, and healthcare.
