Bioenergy is one of the key areas of research under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India. India’s vision of bioenergy production is being supported through various programs with major emphasis on development of 2nd and 3rd generation biofuels like algal biodiesel, cellulosic ethanol, bio butanol and bio hydrogen. DBT has established four centres of bioenergy with this mission. The objective is to put fundamental research in translational platform and ensure technologies developed under these programs scale-up through; and get commercial success.

This workshop is the combined effort of IIT Roorkee, DBT-Pan IIT Centre for Bioenergy and DBT, Govt. of India to bring together people of all four centres to discuss and learn from each others experience and mistakes; share knowledge and common leads.
