This summer Dept. of ECE, IIT Roorkee is organizing two events on Cell-Free Communication for 6G and beyond Systems under the SERB's Accelerate Vigyan Schemes, namely, Karyshala and Vritika.
The first event, 'Karyashala' is a seven-day workshop starting from 05 to 11 June. The event aims to demystify the building blocks of cell-free communication and improve the research and development skills of promising PG and PhD students. The list of selected topics are: - Fundamentals of Cellular Communication - Multi-User Massive MIMO Systems - Modelling of Cell-Free Systems - Signal processing, Beamforming, Resource Allocation, etc. in Cell-Free Systems. - Coexistence with IRS, VLC, etc. - The Role of AI/ML - An Industry/Standard Perspective on Cell-Free Communication Apart from the topic listed above, the participants will also be engaged in implementing the algorithms for channel estimation, signal detection, synchronization, and throughput optimization, etc.
The second event, 'VRITIKA' is a 6-week internship for PG/PhD students starting from 01 June. In this internship event, the interns will study the issues of coexistence of cell-free massive MIMO with other beyond 5G developments like non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), full-duplex (FD) communication, visible light communication (VLC), orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation, etc. and get a hands-on research skill development experience.
