Development of Power SiC Based Solid State Distribution Transformer for Smart Grid” 18 Feb 2020 Power Electronics for Smart Grid The solid-state transformer (SST) achieves the voltage transformation by medium to high frequency transformer link and therefore drastically reduces the size as compared to traditional power transformer. The SST configuration has inbuilt capability of supporting power flow control, voltage sag compensation, fault current limitation, harmonic current elimination and supply AC/DC loads, which is not possible in a traditional transformer. The voltage source converters connected at the secondary terminal of the SST can support a regulated dc bus, which can be connected to dc microgrids enabling new microgrid architecture. The SST is essentially a highvoltage and high-power electronic circuit for which the design and reliable operation are major challenges. SSTs ratings at the present are limited by voltage and power rating of the power devices and available circuit topologies, and as such have not penetrated into the distribution systems. This project aims to design and develop power circuits and gate drivers for high frequency, high power SiC based SST converters. Rs. 100 lakh IMPRINT -II (DST)
