KARNABHARAM

The Anguish of Kunti-putra Karna

Namo Namah!
Sanskrit Club IITR, in collaboration with Dramatics Section IITR, is organising a drama - 'कर्णभारम् :
a different narrative about the last day of Karna's life'.'KARNABHARAM' or 'The Anguish of Kunti-putra Karna' is a Sanskrit play beautifully crafted by one of the most illustrious and earliest dramatist of Indian subcontinent, Mahakavi Bhasa.
Mahakavi Bhasa portrays in his classic work 'Karnabharam', the downfall of the mighty epic hero 'Karna', projecting the inner conflict that develops in him when he enters Kurukshethra to wage a crucial battle with the Pandavas. It helps the spectators realise the true generous and righteous nature of Karna as he ride out towards the battle-ground, where his death under heart-wrenching circumstances is certain.
Dr Prasad Bhide, PhD from IIT Bombay, will present this play through अभिवाचन. He will recite and enact the text and explain the connotations in hindi. Do join us to witness the retelling of a heartfelt episode of the Indian epic 'Mahabharata' but from a different eye.

Gift of Knowledge

A Web Lecture Series

  • Gift of Knowledge is an initiative by the IITR class of 1996.
  • As part of (hopefully) celebrating our silver jubilee this year in Nov 2021, some alumni have come up with 3 ways of giving back to their dear alma mater - The Gift of Money, The Gift of Health and The Gift of Knowledge.
  • Under the Gift of Knowledge, one of the things they wish to share is the spiritual knowledge that many of them received from the Bhagavad Gita after graduating from IITR.
  • Having experienced its benefits first hand in their personal and professional lives, they are motivated to share this knowledge with as many people as possible.
  • The Gift of Knowledge initiative hopes to equip the students with this great tool - Bhagavad Gita - which they can turn to for all important questions of life.
