THE IITR CAMPUSES

IIT Roorkee is one of the oldest and the biggest institutes of technical education in the country, hosting 21 Academic Departments, 1 Academic Centre, 3 Centres of Excellence, 5 Academic Service Centres and 3 Supporting units.

To accommodate the ever-increasing intake of students, IIT Roorkee has 10 boys and 3 girls hostels, along with 6 hostels specifically designed for married students. The institute is well known for the facilities it provides to its students and employees. These include top of the line sports infrastructure like Badminton, Tennis, Squash, Basketball Courts; full size competitive grade pitches and grounds for sports like Athletics, Football, Hockey and Cricket; provision for indoor games like Table Tennis; Olympic size Swimming Pool and a Professional Gymnasium for Weight Lifting and general wellbeing.

For the visiting dignitaries IIT Roorkee has 4 fully furnished Guest Houses and 1 Visitors Hostel within the campus. The campus has a huge residential area marked out for the staff with the most essential community facilities like Hospital, Banks, Post Office, Milk Dairy, Schools for Children and Community Centre etc. all located within the campus. The campus also houses a Mosque, a Temple and a Church within.

IIT Roorkee being an institute of national importance is constantly pushed to its full potential and therefore aside from the Main Campus at Roorkee, Uttarakhand, we have 2 more newly developed campuses at Saharanpur and Greater Noida to meet with the increasing demand.

Roorkee Campus

The main campus and the namesake of IIT Roorkee is located in Roorkee City in Haridwar District in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The Institute was initially built to train people for the construction of the Ganga Canal and Aqueducts for which the city is famous for.

The Roorkee campus covers a geographical area of 358.5 acres, with a total built-up area of 5,09,295.67 Sq. Mts. on it.


Saharanpur Campus

The Saharanpur campus is a recent development to facilitate the students of Pulp & Paper Technology and Packing Technology. The city of Saharanpur is located at a distance of about 30 Km from Roorkee.
The Saharanpur campus has a geographical footprint of 25 acres with a total built-up area of 81,471 Sq. Mts.


Greater Noida Campus

The Greater Noida campus is the most recent addition to the campuses associated with IIT Roorkee. Located close to the nation's capital this campus houses a few Centres of Excellence like the Centre for Urban Design etc.
This campus has a geographical footprint of 10 acres with a total built-up of 14,282 Sq. Mts.
