Department of Polymer and Process Engineering (DPPE) is one of the unique departments of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, locatd in the Saharanpur Campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. The Department offers academic courses leading to B. Tech in Polymer Science & Technology, and a Dual Degree Program of B. Tech in Process Engineering with MBA. The Department also performs fundamental and applied research in Polymer Science and Technology, Process Engineering and Management under the supervision of highly motivated faculty members, who are enthusiastically working towards creating highly competitive, academic and research environment in the Department.On the basis of a plan prepared with the contributions of experts from Academic Institutions, Industries, R&D and Strategic Sectors, and Management Institutions, the Five Year Integrated M.Tech in Polymer Science and Technology Program was started in 2006 and subsequently, the Five Year B. Tech in Process Engineering with MBA was started in 2008 under the umbrella of Department of Paper Technology, Saharanpur Campus of IIT Roorkee.
IDD Process engineering and MBA:
The Process Engineering and MBA program is a five year Integrated Dual Degree program offering a Bachelor’s Degree in Process Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration on successful completion. The academic program is well designed to cover both technical aspects of process engineering and develop managerial prowess. The process engineering curriculum covers core chemical engineering principles to process control, plant design, modeling and simulation. The MBA course structure encompasses operational, financial and marketing skills for enterprises and is tailored to produce well bred “techno-managers”.
IMT Polymer Science and Technology:
A Five Year course of Integrated M Tech programme in Polymer Science and Technology is designed to cater to the needs of the Polymer industry and simultaneously impart knowledge of the allied chemical, petrochemical industry and applied sciences. The academic curriculum focuses on all aspects of polymer industry-from manufacturing to processing to end product development with an aim to instil knowledge of the most recent advances and to promote innovative ideas and scientific thinking. The effective integration of courses in Polymers with those of Chemical engineering as well as Basic and Engineering sciences makes this programme unique in its structure and utilitarian in its employment potential.
