Association of Global Groundwater Scientists

International Society for Porous Media (InterPore)

The international conferences in the IGWC series are the meeting point for groundwater professionals and researchers, bringing together experts in the various inter-related disciplines in the field of groundwater hydrology. Groundwater has emerged as a major resource in safeguarding agriculture and drinking water security in many parts of the globe. India is at present the largest and fastest consumer of groundwater in the world. The role of groundwater in contributing to water security and searching solutions for its conservation and sustainable management at present will play a crucial role to meet water demands of the population in future against the backdrop of climate change and to ensure food and water security for both the developed and developing countries. The aim of IGWC 2019 is to provide a common platform for researchers, academicians, water managers, industrialists and technocrats to discuss and present their vision for sustainable management of soil-water resources to face the growing challenges of the needs of the rising population and anticipated impacts of land use and climate change.

Conference Tracks

In this context, the organizers invite research papers and case studies on the following tracks as platform presentations and in webinar format:
1. Groundwater resource characterization and its quantification, abstraction and monitoring
2. Soil-water pollution: sources, vulnerability and environmental impacts, Isotope hydrology
3. Soil-water flow and solute transport in subsurface, Virus and colloidal transport, inverse modeling
4. Remediation of contaminated soil-water with VOC, heavy metals, and emerging pollutants; wetlands, phyto/bio-remediation, PRB etc.
5. Heterogeneity in porous media; dual porosity/permeability, mobile-immobile approaches
6. Rainwater harvesting, Managed aquifers recharge and river-bank filtration
7. Multiphase flow, carbon sequestration assessment, CO2 geo-sequestration, Reservoir simulation, EOR
8. Plant-soil-atmospheric continuum, Root water and solute uptake analysis, water use efficiency, water footprint assessment
9. Climate Change and (sub)-surface hydrology, soil-atmosphere interactions, hydrological forecasting and trend analysis
10. GIS and Remote sensing application in hydrological and hydrogeological studies
11. Springs Hydrology: assessment, modeling and management
12. Watershed development, Impacts of land use pattern, water logging and drainage network, sustainable water management in smart cities
13. Base and Environment flows, Ecosystem services, restoration potential, conjunctive usage
14. Soil-water resource governance, regulations and policy frameworks
