The department is invested in doing cutting-edge research in several of its disciplines. Currently, the focussed areas for Economics are labour economics, climate change and disaster, conservation, cleaning the Ganges, etc. The English discipline has expertise in modern and contemporary British literature, Indian writings, postcolonial literature, ecocriticism, and linguistics. For psychology, the areas of interest are organizational behvaior, human resource management, social psychology, workplace productivity among others while for Sociology, the focussed areas are sociology of old age, work, and health.

Many of these projects are funded by national and international funding bodies and are deeply interdisciplinary in nature. The faculties have collaborated with several academic institutions and industries at national/international level.
