April 02, 2019: Prof Bibek Debroy, recipient of Padmashree, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and Member of NITI Ayog today visited the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
He interacted with the faculties, research scholars and master's students of the department. He was pleased to know that the department offers an MSc course in Economics. During his interaction with the department fraternity, Prof Debroy highlighted the need and functioning of a body like NITI Ayog. He also answered the queries of MSc students and Research Scholars. 
Prof Binod Mishra, acting HOD, read out his brief bio note and introduced him with the department fraternity. Prof SP Singh, a senior faculty member in Economics of our department welcomed him by offering a bouquet. The vote of thanks was given by Dr D Bharat.
This interactive session was coordinated by Dr Falguni Pattnaik, Assistant Professor in Economics.

February 19, 2019: Prof. H.S. Asthana, Department of Psychology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi delivered a special lecture on the topic "Why and How to stay Positive in day life?"


December 04, 2018: Dr. Shahnawaj, Director (S & SE Asia), UNIGIS International Interfaculty Department for Geoinformatics -Z_GIS University of Salzburg, AUSTRIA delivered a special lecture on the topic "Geographical Information Science: An interdisciplinary integrative platform". 


November 19, 2018: Dr. Satyapriya Rout, Associate Professor of Sociology, Hyderabad Central University, Gachibowli, Hyderabad delivered a special lecture on the topic "Discourses of Water".


November 12, 2018: Prof. Amaresh Samantaraya, Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Pondicherry University delivered a special lecture on the topic "Conduct of Monetary Policy in an Indian Perspective: Theory and Practice".


October 26, 2018: Prof. Biswambar Panda, Professor of Sociology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) delivered a special lecture on the topic "Dimensions of Social Change in North-East India with Special Reference to Khasi Society in Meghalaya".


October 22, 2018: Prof. Rajesh K. Choudhary, founding member of Business Consulting firm Upanishad Global, New Delhi and Associate Director, Standard Chartered Bank (previously)  delivered a special lecture on the topic "Understanding Key Health and Rating Drivers for an Organization".


September 26, 2018: Dr Prabhjot Parmar, Associate Professor of English, University of Frazer Valley, Canada,  delivered a talk on“Geography is History!” Is it? : Home, Belonging and the Hyphenated Indo-Canadian".


September 4, 2018: Dr Maya Shanker Pandey, Professor and Head, Department of English, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, delivered a talk on 'Home, Identity, and Diasporic Imagination'.


March 20, 2018: Prof. T. Ravichandran, Dept. of Humanities & Social Sciences, IIT Kanpur, deliverd a talk on "Locating Theories in the Edge of the Anthropocene".


August 12, 2015: Nancy Bartley, University of Washington, Seattle delivered a guest lecture to HSS postgraudate students and faculty on Research Methodologies for Book Fieldwork .


June 29, 2015: Dr. Subrata Sarkar, Professor at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai delivered a Guest Lecture on “Evolving System of Corporate Governance in India”.


March 10, 2014: Prof. Holly A. Semetko, Professor of Political Sciences, Emory University, USA and Honorary Professor of IIT Bombay, who is also Fulbright Nehru Scholar 2013-14 also visited the department of Humanities and Social Sciences and delivered a talk on “Influence and Campaign”.


February 8, 2013: Sri Vasuvaj Easwaramangalam who is the Chief Instructor of Samskrita Bharati, USA gave a special lecture on “Culture of Indian Diaspora” in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.


August 28, 2012: Prof Arun Kumar, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, JNU, Delhi visited the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and delivered a talk on “Understanding Black Economy in India”
