Dr. Sourit Bhattacharya recently organised a panel on Non-translation and World Literature in the prestigious ACLA conference held in Georgetown University between March 7 & 10, 2019, and presented a paper there on Bengali literature and internationalism in the mid 20thC. Dr Pratap Mohanty has won an award, 'Chhatra Gaurav Samman' on Feb 09, 2019. The award carries a citation received from Hon'ble Minister of Higher Education as well as Industries of Odisha. This is on the occasion of silver jubilee celebration of alumni association of Fakir Mohan College Balasore. We congratulate him on this achievement.

 

 

Dr P.C. Mohanty, Assistant Professor of Economics in the department has recently participated in the 2018 Pathways to Gender Equality Conference, held at Washington College of Law, Washington D.C. USA organised by Institute of Women Policy Research & American University and presented a paper titled " Is Early Age Marriage linked to Women Empowerment in EAG States of India". Dr. Mohanty received 100% travel grant from ICCSR New Delhi to attend this conference.

Prof. Rachita Gulati (Economics discipline) was awarded the Subir Chowdhury Visiting Fellowship 2017-18 at the India Observatory, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, United Kingdom where she worked on the research topic of Governance quality and stability of financial institutions. 26th February – 25th June 2018.

Prof. S.P. Singh (Economics discipline) chaired a session and presented his work on sugar production and water depletion in the state of Uttar Pradesh at the The Thirteenth Forum of the World Association for Political Economy,  Berlin School of Economics and Law, Germany. July 16-18, 2018,

Prof. Sourit Bhattacharya (English Discipline) was invited to present his research at the international conference titled "Global Hungers: The Problem of Poverty in Postcolonial Literature" held at University of Oxford. His paper was on colonial famine to postcolonial starvation in novels from Bengal. June 25, 2018.
