MarkIIT is the Official Marketing club of the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee.
The club is active at consolidating large scale events, but also lays impetus on peer-to-peer knowledge sessions that include discussions on prevalent trends, practices, case studies and quizzes under the gamut of marketing that eventually help everyone turn out to be better marketers and managers.
Since its commencement, besides bringing together eminent business personalities for delivering guest lectures, the club has also organized numerous student and corporate activities and events which include:
Sales Management and Negotiation Workshop at the department by Mr. Jagannath Kallakurchi, Managing Director and CEO, Choice Solutions Limited – 2015
Students attending the workshop were introduced to various terminologies, theories and techniques of sales management and negotiation on first day of the workshop. A hand on implementation of the concepts learned was done using case study discussions on final day of the workshop.

The event was organised in March 2016 during Cognizance – The Annual Technical Festival of IIT Roorkee
Mr. Vikas Goyal, CEO, Vikas Industries, Haridwar, Uttrakhand, India and Mr. Arun Kaushik, PhD Research Scholar (Marketing), IIT Roorkee judged the event and gave valuable inputs to participants to improve upon their domain knowledge and presentation skills.
The prime objective for the participants was to understand the given challenge from every possible aspect in light of ‘Management & Strategy’.
The challenges were provided from real life scenarios which demanded every contestant to provide best possible feasible, innovative and sustainable solution.
Biggest Marketer Jeetega
In this Online Pan India event organised by the club participants had to come up with innovative marketing / launch strategy for an existing well-known brand in a new sector.
Role of the participants was to act as the Chief Marketing Officer for this launch and prepare a marketing plan with a budget of up to INR 50 crore for 2016-17 using theoretical framework and sound logical reasoning on why this launch should be undertaken by the company.
The event organised in October 2015 during Thomso – The Annual Cultural Festival of IIT Roorkee saw participation from 37 college teams across India. The event had three rounds namely quiz, cross campus marketing treasure hunt and formulation of innovative marketing strategy for failed products.
Mr. Manoj Sadavarte, General Manager (Unit Head), Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Limited, Dehradun, India and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Head HR, BHEL – Dehradun India and Dr. Rajat Agrawal, Associate Professor, IIT Roorkee were esteemed judges for the event.
Impromptu interactive session with the judges after the event was highly appreciated by the participants.
The club also actively brings in live project opportunities for students at the department. Recently held peer-to-peer knowledge sharing session was based on ‘Consumer Analytical Tools used in Industry’ where students given exposure to tools like Marketing Mix Panel and other tools used to predict and analyse consumer behaviour.
Vipanan is the annual marketing summit of DoMS. It was recently organized on 15th September 2013.

The Event –
Big data is already a buzzword in the field of Marketing. Marketers are getting increasingly interested and involved in capturing and analyzing Big Data for a variety of reasons. For a management student, it is of vital importance to understand about this new concept. DoMS, IIT Roorkee found such an opportunity to discuss the topic and learn from the industry leaders. The event was marketing summit, Vipanan which was organized on 15-Sep-2013 at Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee in association with ISTD Dehradun chapter. The event was sponsored by brands such as Namo Alloy & Indian Oil and conducted by MarkIIT, the marketing club of DoMS, IIT Roorkee.

Quenchers is the annual business quiz of DoMS organized by MarkIIT every year in the spring semester. It is the flagship event of MarkIIT since 2011. Its scale has increased each year with students from colleges from all over India taking part in it.
