1.   ROAD MEASURING DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM (ROMDAS)
ROMDAS is useful for the quick collection of parameters related to a road-based transport system. These parameters are (i) Roughness (ii) Pavement Condition rating (iii) Roadside inventory (iv) location referencing (v) Transverse profile and rut depth (vi) Heading and cross fall (vii) GPS (viii) Video logging (ix) Travel time and congestion and (x) Digital odometry. The system consists of a hardware interface, a digital distance sensor, video graphic unit, GPS, roughness meter, transverse profile sensor, laptop PC, and PC based software for integrated analysis. The hardware interface connects to a sensor on the roughness meter and to the distance sensor. During the survey, the interface monitors both the distance traveled and the instruments. Every 0.1 second the PC integrates the interface and records the data. At the end of the survey, the data are stored in database management software.
2.   PORTABLE AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC COUNTER CUM CLASSIFIER
Useful for automatic traffic count for four lane National Highways. Main features of the equipment are:
  • Time sampling for Class, Speed & Volume
  • Binned Count Data of 1,5,15,60 minutes
  • Peak hour detection
This equipment is useful for accurate estimation of Average Annual Daily Traffic, % of Heavy Vehicles, Design Hourly volume etc.
3.   ELECTRO DYNAMIC VIBRATION EXITER SYSTEM
The simulator is a mock-up of railway coach which can provide low frequency vibration inputs in multiple directions with controlled environment (temperature, humidity and noise). Other significant features of the equipments are:
  • Proper temperature & lighting as well as background noise will be considered.
  • Transducers will be affixed to the subjects to continuously monitor the physiological changes.
  • Sinusoidal signals will be used to vibrate the mockup on several frequencies and several amplitude levels.
  • Subjects will participate from 20 years to 60 years age with equal number of males & females. Subjects will perform reading, writing and eating tasks during the vibration test.
  • The simulator will be used to define train specific guidance on the effect of vibration on comfort, activities (e.g. reading and writing, postural stability), performance (e.g. the driver's ability to drive the train) and the adverse effects on health arising from prolonged exposure to excessive vibration (e.g. muscular-skeletal disorders);

  • Investigations of the way in which thermal comfort is perceived in the train environment will also be undertaken. Seating comfort, including the quantification of seating dynamics, will be the subject of research studies. The simulator can also be used for testing seats according to dynamic specifications
  • Pilot study on Indian Railways will be conducted.
  • The combined capabilities of the simulator will also be used to study the interactions between motion, noise, thermal and other aspects of the train environment.
4.   ROBOTIC TOTAL STATION
  • Extremely helpful for collection of terrain data (x, y and z) of either existing route or planning a new route for road and rail transport system.
  • Provides faster and accurate results.
  • Can provide long sights observations even during rains.
  • Robotic features reduces the manpower requirement in the field.
  • It can also be used without reflector to collect terrain data which is useful under poor visibility/under tunnel etc.
  • Results can directly be interfaced with GIS for 2D or 3D modeling and analysis.
5.   FALCON HANDHELD STATIONARY RADAR WITH DATA LOGGER
Used for accurate measurement of vehicular speeds. An internal battery powers the Cordless Falcon for up to eight hours on a full change. Can be recharged inside the vehicles. Easy operation including RF Hold, Target Speed Lock-release, Range Control, Power and Volume Control. Some features of the equipment are:
  • Handheld Stationary, True Doppler Radar
  • Measurement available in mph or Kmph
  • Speed range 16 to 320 Kmph
  • Two-and-a-half digit, seven segment LCD shows speed of approaching or receding vehicle

6.   NOISE LEVEL METER
It is an integrating-averaging noise level meter. It measures the equivalent, or average, sand pressures the instantaneous, maximum and peak sound pressure levels at the same time. All parameters are measured simultaneously, there is no setup necessary. Useful for study and analysis of traffic noise related to transport system operation. Significant features of the equipment :

7.   PORTABLE FALLING WEIGHT DEFLECTORMETER (LOADMAN)
This equipment is used for measuring pavement strength by determining bearing capacity and for compaction control on bound and unbound layers. It consists of a falling weight of 10.0 kg and electronic circuitry to measure Pavement Deflections.
The deflection caused by the load of a falling weight is measured by an accelerometer. The measuring result is given as the deflection, the calculated modulus E, the length of loading impulse and the percentage of the rebound deflection compared to the maximum deflection as well as the ratio of the modulus E of the second measurement compared to the modulus E of the first measurement (effectiveness of compaction).
8.   GROUND PENETRATION RADAR (GPR)
Ground Penetration radar system capable of study of pavements and detection of underground utilities below highwy pavements have a with one nos. each of 250 MHz 500 MHz and 1000 MHz antennas, one smart cart to carry the antenna while carrying out survey, alongwith it's various essential accessories and software.
9.   BIOREACTOR
Use for high density microbial fermentation having tough, screen PID controller with easy calibration mode, glass vessel size 3.0 L with heating plate, Baffles, Sparger, Agitation devices, pH electrode, DO electrode antifoam sensor, temp. sensor, Air filter, condenser, air compressor, chiller & other standard accessories.
10.   BINARY GRADIENT HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY
High Performance Liquid Chromatography system is used for the separation, identification, and quantification of chemical/biochemical compounds such as carbohydrates, proteins, organic acids, pharmaceutical compounds, ethanol, fuel-alcohols etc. The HPLC system is purchased from M/s Waters Inc., USA. The system is consisting of two independent pumps, on-line degasser, Refractive Index (RI) detector, and Photodiode Array (PDA) detector. The licensed “Empower” software is purchased for control of all qualitative and quantitative analysis. Various columns such as C18, C8, Sugar-Pak, C4-Xbridge, and IC Pak have been purchased for the analysis of different chemicals and biomolecules. In addition, a column heater compartment with temperature range 4-90 ºC is also purchased for the efficient separation of compounds.
