Activities

2013-14
1. SAE Chapter IIT Roorkee aspires to conduct the following activities in the academic year 2013-14
a. Industrial Trip to industries near the campus.
b. Guest Lectures given by the experts in the areas significantly influencing the shape of the automobile industry.
c. Trip to the 12th Auto Expo which is to be held in Greater Noida in the year 2014.
d. Workshops on topics like CAD, I.C. Engines and many more.

2012-13
1. PowerDrift, a small wireless remote controlled IC engine driven car making competition was organized for the third time in Cognizance ‘13, the annual technical festival of IIT Roorkee; with an overwhelming participation from colleges all over India.This event was the heart of Cognizance and had maximum prize money of RS 50,000 among all the events.
2. SAE Chapter IIT Roorkee organised lectures on a variety of topics relating to the governing dynamics of automobiles.
3. Many on the spot quizzes, competitions, workshops(IC Engine workshop), Guest Lectures were organised thought the year.

2011-12

2.Trip to 11th Auto Expo was organized in the month of January 2012 with more than 150 people experiencing an educational & fun-filled experience of a lifetime.
3.Other Activities like several on the spot competitions, quizzes, crosswords, guest lectures & workshops like IC Engine workshop were organised throughout the year.

2010-11
1. PowerDrift, a small wireless remote controlled IC engine driven car making competition was organized for the first time in Cognizance ‘11, the annual technical festival of IIT Roorkee; with an overwhelming participation from colleges all over India.
2. Many new and innovative projects such as fabrication & design of a motorized wheelchair, floor mopping machine were taken up.
3. An industrial Trip to Hero Honda Haridwar plant was organized with more than 70 students benefiting from it.

2009-10
1. Trip to Auto Expo was organized in the month of January with more than 150 people experiencing an educational & fun-filled experience of a lifetime.
2. “Evolution” a 3-day workshop with innovative events like “Save the Chick”, “Balloon Powered Vehicle”, “Lego mania” ,was held with the highlight of the workshop being a guest lecture on “Energy Conversions” delivered by our erudite faculty Dr. Manish Mishra.

2008-09
1. An industrial trip to Maruti Gurgaon was organized with more than 60 students benefiting from it.
2. A competition named “SAVE THE BOAT” requiring innovation and designing skills was organized requiring its participants to build an amphibian with the material provided.
3. An extensive Lecture series covering various facets of automobile engineering was provided to facilitate basic learning about various systems and associated machineries.

2007-08

1.Trip to 9th Auto Expo,Delhi, a huge group of members went to delhi to witness the launch of NANO....
2.Industrial Visit to Mahindra & Mahindra.
3. Other Activities like several on the spot competitions, quizzes, crosswords & guest lectures were organised throughout the year.

2006-07
1. Annual SAE Workshop, SAE IIT Roorkee organized its 6th annual Workshop on 17rd - 18th of March, 2007. The workshop focused on the "Petroleum Conservation and emerging role of Alternative Fuels" to spread awareness among the student community and the industry professionals to meet the challenges of the fast growing market. The Workshop events ranging from technical guest lectures, hands-on engineering sessions, product exhibitions and paper presentations benefited the participating industry delegates and the students.
2. Mechanism Design, SAE organised a "Mechanism Design" competition for developing rear view mirrors for tractors & for developing a new braking mechanism for bicycles.Students from all streams of engineering participated with great enthusiasm.
