About us

Profile Image

We aim at uniting the computing fraternity at IIT Roorkee under one tag and allowing the students to learn together and share their knowledge to cater the interests of the individuals as well as the institute as a whole. We organize a plethora of events which cover most of the fields of the computer science domain like hackathons, guest lectures, workshops, coding contests etc. which give the students an exposure to the competitive computing world as well as allow them to understand the advancements going on in the computing sphere worldwide.

Good Luck remembering our name :P

Projects

KSOS

This OS is being built for an x86 architecture system using Legacy BIOS and was started from scratch in November 2019. It has been developed on a Debian-based Linux distribution. We emulate using qemu, a general-purpose CPU emulator. We also write our very own Bootloader for Legacy BIOS. The bootloader handles the initial 16-bit CPU mode, preparing the switch to 32-bit protected mode. It also parses the filesystem and loads the kernel before passing control to it. The kernel has been implemented mostly in C. Btw, what KSOS means shall remain a secret. 😉

Source Code

Symphonia

ACM IITR's long term project, This project aims to visualize a three dimensional scene (Fractals/ glTF/ obj) in a VR like interface that syncs/reacts with music.
