Microwave Laboratory
The department has two microwave laboratories which provide the necessary support for training the students in the area of RF and Microwave Engineering. One of the laboratories is used for training the undergraduate students and has the following equipment:
- Microwave benches for X- and S-bands
- Antenna trainer kit
- Transmission line trainer kit
- Microstrip components trainer kit
- Klystron power supplies, VSWR meters, Gunn sources and assorted microwave components
The second microwave laboratory houses sophisticated microwave equipment and software for the use of postgraduate and research students. Some of the major facilities are:
- Vector Network Analyzer with associated accessories for waveguide and planar component analysis
- HP sweep oscillator with S-, X-, and Ku-band plug-ins
- Spectrum analyzer system
- Microwave power meters
- Microwave signal generators upto 26.5 GHz
- Noise figure measurement system
- Microwave frequency meters
- Hand-held Spectrum Analyzer
- Field strength measurement system
- Standard gain antennas for antenna gain measurements
- Anechoic Chamber for antenna measurements (1-18 GHz)
- Simulation softwares (IE3D, CST Microwave studio, Ansoft HFSS, EMPIRE)
- Preamplifiers, mixers, VCOs etc
- Waveguide and coaxial components of a wide variety
