THDCIL is a major player in the power sector, providing quality, affordable and sustainable power with commitment to environment, ecology and social values. Its mission is to create work ethos of growth through professionalism and achievement of excellence.
THDC : CSR AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT
The Company has framed “THDC-CSR-CD SCHEME-2010” in line with DPE Guidelines on CSR-2010 to implement THDCIL CSR activities. It has earmarked 2% of Net Profit before Tax in line with the New DPE Guidelines. The amount is to be allocated and transferred every year to Non-Lapsable CSR Fund for implementation of various THDC CSR-CD Schemes.
THDC CSR funds are not utilized as philanthropic activities, but provided to the poor people as seed money for enhancement of their lively hood activities and reaches out to the integration of social and business goals.Further employment opportunities have been enhanced due to setting up of non-polluting industries and tourism which is generating indirect employment in commercial ventures like boating, transport, vehicle repair shops, business, hotel industries and several other activities.
DoMS : CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS CSR
Apart from the normal classroom learning, DoMS makes its presence felt in other arenas as well. Students of DoMS, IIT Roorkee helped facilitate an awareness week at the “Roorkee School for the Deaf” held in September 2011. The event included games and competitions organized by ‘Bhor’, and dance and drama performances by the students of the school taught and trained by us.
The ‘Security initiative’ is astructured training program aimed at improving the job performance, communication and English speaking skills of the Security guards of IIT Roorkee. This is facilitated through weekly sessions on various aspects of communication, leadership and personal hygiene conducted by Faculty, PhD Scholars and Students.
‘Shabda Siksha Sansthan’ is a business idea formulated by young and ignited minds of DoMS, IIT Roorkee. The idea attempts to integrate the hearing impaired into the mainstream of society by empowering them with the power of communication and training them in the art of lip reading. The Idea has won accolades across the country at prestigious Business Schools including ISB, Hyderabad.
‘Umang’, an annual event at DoMS, aims to bring together the academia and non-government organizations to facilitate exchange of views and opinions on various social causes.
