The odyssey called IMG has its modest beginning in an initiative called WMG (Website Management Group) in year 2000-2001. WMG was formed by Ritesh Tripathi along with Naresh Gaur and a few other students who took over the responsibility of the then University of Roorkee website.
Thus began an effort of rigorous information collection and editing coupled with web publishing of details of all the constituents of the university. This organization was passed on to Shantanu Agarwal and Atul Singh there on in the year 2001-2002, where they envisioned it in its new form IMG (Information Management Group), an organization that handles all the intranet as well as internet resources of IIT Roorkee and brings about a culture change in the IIT Roorkee to take it into the information/internet age.
They were joined in this endeavor by Sandeep Giri and Vivek Jain and a rejuvenating team of 2nd yearites. This vision was followed with the implementation of concepts like intranet website, online notice board, online library, Phone nos./Email address search etc. intranet resources for users in the IIT, along with a complete overhaul of the internet website. The work they started was really brought to reality in the year 2002-2003 under Himanshu Sahani and Bhagavath Kumar.
In 2003-04 IMG worked under the leadership of Rajas Raut, Sharad Kumar, Aditya Kwatra, Makhan Lal Virdi and Naved Alam and the technical guidance of Fasihullah Askiri. The success of the Registration Online, Placement online, the work done on the new Institute Website by the enthusiastic 2nd and 1st yearites has marked the event history of IMG.
