Looking at the growing importance of Information Security, Department of Information Technology (DIT), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Government of India has formulated and initiated the ISEA programme. The Objective of this project is to create Information Security awareness amongst students, teachers and parents.
The IITs and IISc. Bangalore are Resource Centers that act as mentors, while the Participating Institutes include National Institutes of Technology, Government Degree Engineering Colleges, IIITs, Societies of DIT, etc.

Broad Aim of the Project
The aim of the working group is to "Recommend an action plan and strategy for Human Resource Development in the country in the area of cyber security leading to development of indigenous hardware and software capabilities in the core area of Information Security.
- Introduction of Information Security Curriculum at M.Tech & B.Tech level and Research Activity/PhD
- Education Exchange Programme
- Train System Administrators/Professionals
- Train Government Officers – Center and State, on Information Security issues i.e. computer networking, cyber hygiene, data security etc.
- Bring Information Security Awareness in the country
- Start Education Exchange Programme
Implementation strategy of ISEA project
The activities of ISEA project are being implemented through Resource Centres(RC) and Participating Institutes(PI). The Resource Centers are premier institutes like IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur) and IISc Bangalore.
The activity of training of Central and State Government officers are being implemented through six DIT organizations viz. CDAC, ERNET India, DOEACC Society, CERT-In, STQC Directorate, & NIC.
The Information Security awareness programme for the industry, educational institutes and the masses is being implemented through CDAC, Hyderabad.
